January In Pictures

I won't lie, this past week I lost myself a bit, including my inspiration and motivation to blog. I spent the week sitting in bed most days being frustrated at myself. Nothing was coming together in my head but thank god that seems to have passed! Don't get me wrong, I love blogging and had ideas for posts in my head but I think maybe I had too many ideas as when I sat down to write, nothing productive came from it. At least I'm back now!

January was a bit of a slow and dismal month. With England deciding to throw the Winter chills on us a month later than expected, I felt like a permanent ice cube. I didn't realise how much I lusted for the sun until this month came around. GIVE US SPRING ALREADY!
Now I've got all the negatives out of the way, it's onto the positives...

2016 Happened
2016 was literally flung upon us, I don't think anyone was expecting it to be here this fast. One minute it was Christmas, the next minute we're counting down to midnight!
How many of you have actually stuck to resolutions? Personally, I didn't make any and the cold really isn't helping my healthy eating kick either. Let's be real, it's like -2 outside and all I want to do is snuggle up as a duvet burrito whilst eating copious amounts of roast dinners and hot chocolate fudge cakes. That's the dream right there!

The Naked Smoky Palette
If you read my Boxing Day Sales Haul, you'll know about this baby already. I finally took the plunge and purchased a Naked palette using all my own money. Is this what being an adult feels like? It's a gorgeous palette and I know I'm going to get so much use out of it. Expect a review very soon!

Return of the Unicorn Horn
Valentine's Day is fast approaching meaning UNICORN HORN! If you're not a Lushie you're probably like "What are you talking about...?". Besides The Comforter, Unicorn Horn is my favourite Lush bubble bar but because it's only out once a year, I have to stock up! I plan on treating myself to many more of these beauties and for anyone that's interested, I manage to get 3 baths out of them.

Booking a Holiday
That's right, Kathryn is finally leaving the country after what feels like the longest three years of her life. Me and my mama are jetting off to Turkey at the end of June for a dreamy 10 nights in Hisaronu. That place is my second home and to say I'm excited is an understatement. I'm already planning my holiday wardrobe and make-up!

Mastering the Smoky Eye
I've soon put my Naked Smoky palette into practice and actually managed to create something that didn't make me look like I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, success! I still have a long way to go but I'm going to be taking baby steps with bold make-up. Practice makes perfect.

Let It Snow
The snow finally made an appearance. After last year's miserable attempt I had given up hope as to whether Manchester would see snow again. Turns out we got lucky this year and the whole country seemed to go into some type of snow frenzy/meltdown. If you didn't Instagram it, did it really happen?

First Collab of 2016
I worked with I Just Love It this past month and was able to receive some adorable homeware, including the LED letter K! 2016 is the year of creating a feel to my room that is very 'me'. Somewhere to enjoy working (and sleeping), it's getting there slowly but surely. I have also attempted to up my photography game during this month and it's certainly paying off. I've fallen back in love with being behind the camera!

The Passing of Two Icons
Unfortunately, January saw the loss of two people who shaped my life growing up. Alan Rickman has been one of my icons since I was little as I'm sure many of you know, I'm a bit obsessed with Harry Potter. Nobody could have played a better Professor Snape.
David Bowie was a big part of my life music-wise which I don't actually think many people are aware of. He created some of the best songs to exist and will forever be a musical legend.

Kat became a Cat
Ending this post off on a silly note, those bloody Snapchat filters. They're hilarious aren't they? If you're not vomiting rainbows, your face is being morphed into various creatures. I love it! P.S. I created a Snapchat for my blog which is chaptersofkat if anyone would like to see what my life consists of.

I hope you all had a fab start to the year! Let me know what you got up to this month in the comments.

  1. I totally agree about 2016, it seems to have come around so fast and January has gone really quickly. I didn't make any resolutions just a few goals I'd like to achieve, but nothing to make me feel pressured!

I'm a bit jealous that you've booked your holiday, I bet it will be amazing!

  7. Super jealous that you got snow this year. Us Londoners didn't get very much at all (I think we had a light sprinkling over night but it didn't settle). This is my first year trying Lush's Unicorn Horn.. I can't wait to use it! x

  10. Time always passes so fast. I still feel like it´s the start of December and not already the start of February (almost). There was snow here, too, and it was wonderful for the first two days and then just became mushy brown and just cold. Fingers crossed, spring does come soon!

Would never want you to be sad! Yay for a summer trip booked & Unicorn Horn :D Btw, I love the very middle pic so much. Gorgeous makeup, sweetie!

  15. Sorry to hear you wasn't feeling too great. Sometimes it's best to take some time out and just chill and get your head straight again! Great post... I too am craving summer sun now. I don't do the cold and the temperature has definitely dropped last month. Hope you have a great holiday in June, always nice to get away not sure where we'll be going this year. I'm loving the unicorn bomb and even though I don't have baths I really want one just because it's so pretty! We still haven't had any snow yet this year.
