Cherry & Choc Chip Rock Buns

Yo. Definitely do not know why I just started this post with yo, I'm absolutely not cool enough to use that as an intro. I'm taking it back old school with the baking today, all the way back to year 7 food tech lessons with a basic ass recipe for rock buns. Ring any bells?
They are possibly one of the most simple bakes ever. And delicious. The taste is obv the most important part. 

Ingredients - Makes 12 225g Self-Raising Flour 75g Caster Sugar 1 tsp Baking Powder 125g Unsalted Butter/Margarine 2 tsp Vanilla Extract 1 tbsp Milk 1 Egg 1 Handful of Glacier Cherries 1 Handful of Chocolate Chips
Method 1. Preheat your oven to 180 C/350 F and line a baking tray. 2. Rub the flour, sugar, baking powder and butter together in a bowl until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. (Cut the butter into cubes to make this step easier) 3. Mix in the cherries and chocolate chips and set aside. 4. In another bowl, beat the egg, milk and vanilla extract together. 5. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir with a spoon until the mixture becomes thick and lumpy. 6. Place small spoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking tray. Leave space between each bun as they will flatten and double in size.  7. Bake in the oven for 15-20 mins or until golden brown.
