What's In My Holiday Make Up Bag?

As you're reading this I could either be on my way to the airport, in the air or sat by the pool with a cocktail in hand. Please, try not to feel too sorry for me.

I personally love seeing what make up people just have to take abroad with them, because I'm nosy like that. I feel like on holiday you're a much more relaxed version of yourself. No foundation or heavy contouring required. Well, unless you're prepared and also psychic so you can take darker shades of everything with you - aka the exact opposite of me.

The Base:

Hands up if you have to take some form of foundation away with you, regardless of whether it'll match your skin in a few days time. *Puts both hands up*
This year I have chosen to take one foundation, one BB cream and one tinted moisturiser. I think that's pretty good going if I do say so myself. I prefer a light base for the first couple of nights when on my hols, until I ditch the make up altogether. as I still like looking as if I've gone to a lot of effort (even though I haven't).

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is the only foundation I'll be taking as I find it creates such a flawless and lightweight base. It's the one foundation I always end up going back to.
For BB Cream, it's my trusty fave, the Rimmel 9-In-1. It blends into the skin effortlessly and gives my face such a healthy glow. Despite it not having the best coverage, it's perfect if you're in a hurry.
The next product on my list has been my holy grail since I was in high school, the Natural Collection Tinted Moisturiser*. It works similarly to the BB Cream but adds that extra layer of hydration to your skin whilst supplying you with a bit of colour.

For concealers, I never really switch them up no matter what the occasion. If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll already know how much I love the Natural Collection Creamy Concealer. But to cover up those under eye circles and add a subtle highlight, the Maybelline Eraser Eye just has to come too.

The Bronzers/Glow:

I feel like it's a given, if you go on holiday you bring all the bronzers. Despite the fact you spend all day in the sun, you just need to add a bit of extra warmth to your face at night. I don't know why we do it but I'm always up for disguising my paleness.

Seeing as it's 2016, this gal can't go anywhere without her contour. I can safely say I've fallen back in love with Benefit's Hoola, no regrets. As this bronzer isn't too muddy, it'll go amazingly with a tan without looking too streaky and in your face. Not cute. On the other hand, for a bit of all over bronzing, I have been obsessed with the Collection Shimmer Brick. Dust it over the high points of your face and you're good to go - enhance that tan girl.

Can someone please give me a round of applause for managing to narrow down the highlighters I am taking to two? Like seriously, that took a lot of swapping and changing! Both of these products are new to my collection and I can't live without them. The gold undertones in the Mary Lou Manizer make it the ultimate holiday highlighter and I am so excited to wear it. Of course everyone's new favourite highlight palette has to come along for the ride too - the Sleek Solstice palette.

The Eyes:

Going with the whole shimmery-bronzey vibes, it was inevitable that the original Naked palette would be going straight in my suitcase. I am so looking forward to spending my evenings sitting on the balcony doing my eyeshadow - yep, I'm really that lame. I thought it'd be worth bringing along my favourite Kiko shadow as an inner corner/brow bone highlight and a NYX copper shade because y'know, it's copper.

The Extras:

The extras. Otherwise known as, the stuff that I have too much or too little of to fit into it's own category without this post being extremely long.

First up we have the lips which I think we are all aware by now, my Kylie Lip Kits just have to come. I can't go anywhere without at least one of them but by taking both, I have the choice of a pink lip or a nude lip. Anything to justify taking more stuff. Demonstrated by the photos above, it's pretty clear that all the lip products I'll be taking are pinks or pinky-nudes so let's not go into each individual item.

My top two absolute must haves for a hot climate are a good setting spray and a non-greasy translucent powder. Luckily, I have both of those and wear them on a daily basis anyway! The Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is a cult favourite amongst bloggers, very glad I rediscovered it this year. All this make up I've just talked you through will definitely not be melting off my face this year. Last but not least, it has to be the NYX HD Finishing Powder - another item that has taken the blogging world by storm. It's perfect for baking but especially good for minimising oil. I refuse to walk round with a face looking like an oil stick. It also makes my skin feel super soft so yay, soft skin!

I hope you liked having a little peep into what's going in my make up bag this year. I'd love to see what your holiday beauty picks are!

  8. I'm so nosey! I love having a peak into what people have in their makeup or hand bags! I'm jetting off on holiday soon! This is a super fun idea, and you're right about the foundation never matching, I just ordered a concealer so maybe I'll just rely on that to cover up any bags that appear!
    Fab post!
