The £4.99 Touche Éclat Dupe

I've been sat here for half an hour trying to think of a cool and catchy intro for this post, I still can't think of one. Help. The forever talked about YSL Touche Éclat has taken the make up world by storm, but is it really worth the price tag?

I'm always slightly dubious about high end make up, mainly because 9 times out of 10 there will always be a drugstore dupe that's on par with it. I decided to compare this against one of the more recent additions to my make up collection, the Seventeen Skin WOW! Concealer* and see which one I prefer.

To make this post a little easier to follow, I decided to judge the products by their pros and cons - We all love a good list.

PROS

YSL Touche Éclat
  • 2.5ml of product
  • Little goes a long way
  • Many shades to suit all skin tones
  • Feels smooth and silky on the skin
  • Luxurious packaging

Seventeen Skin WOW! Concealer
  • The £4.99 price tag
  • Yellow undertones in the product
  • 2.5ml of product
  • Illuminates skin
  • Combats dark circles and redness

As you can probably gather from the lists, the Seventeen concealer is much better value for money. Is it really just the name you're paying for? Considering both brands hold the same amount of product, I would say yes, but let's take a look at the cons...

(Left - YSL, Right - Seventeen)

CONS

YSL Touche Éclat
  • The £25 price tag
  • Pink undertones (which I personally don't like)
  • Runny consistency

Seventeen Skin WOW! Concealer
  • The packaging
  • Feels slightly tacky on the skin
  • Needs to be set with powder to prevent creasing due to thick consistency

Although I'm not a fan of the packaging of the Seventeen concealer, it's definitely something I can live with. I much prefer the consistency of the product as opposed to the YSL one, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a fan of concealers similar to Collection's Lasting Perfection.
I'm really not a fan of anything with a runny consistency, but as shown in the photo below you can see that only a small amount of product is needed from the Touche Éclat, meaning it will last bloody ages.

You can probably already tell that I much prefer the Seventeen product, but I'm a sucker for a bargain. Take this post as a gift from me to you, in case you were intrigued by the Touche Éclat, but didn't want to break the bank. You're welcome in advance.

Have you tried either of these products? What's your verdict?

  1. I actually quite like the Seventeen packaging. I own the Seventeen one in Fair and Medium, Fair is yellow toned but medium is more pink toned. I like using both depending what I use it for.

    1. Yeah I got it in Fair as they tend to have the yellow undertones, I'm really not a fan of anything pink toned as my skin suffers from quite a lot of redness. :)

  2. Wow! I'm really impressed by this - especially for the price tag! I love my Touche Eclat but had it gifted at a blog event. I don't think I'd pay the full price for it so it's great to know I can find such a good dupe xx

  4. It's frightening how similar they are yet how different the price tag is! I am with you on the yellow undertones, I much prefer them, as they are much more flattering.

    1. I know right? I also much prefer yellow concealers, they're better for brightening the under eyes too... And of course anywhere else you want to highlight! x

  7. Such a well written post, sweetie! You definitely convinced me & I am in shock how come I haven't yet tried this handy little concealer from Seventeen yet. They are sooo similar & I think I would prefer the Seventeen one (price & no pink undertones - not a big fan either). So nice to finally read back and catch up with your blog properly, sweetie. Hope you're having a lovely weekend <3

  10. I'm with you - I hate spending loads of money on a high end product cos most of the time there will be a high street dupe for it. I finally splashed out on the ABH Dipbrow Pomade last year and literally, like, a month later, Freedom released their version and I've heard amazing things since! Gutted I could've saved myself a tenner! I've been meaning to try the 17 concealer for quite some time as I'm already a big fan of some of their other concealers, so hopefully I'll get round to it soon! Regardless of how it will last, £25 is waaaay too expensive for me to justify spending on an illuminating concealer!
