18 Things I Did When My Phone Broke

As some of you may know (if you follow me on Twitter you definitely will know), my phone died on me last week. Out of nowhere. It just poofed. Never to be used again. For someone who uses their phone as a comfort and is rarely off it, you can probably imagine that this was really quite a stressful time for the 22 hours that I was unable to use it for.

Here's a few things that went down during this awfully traumatic time, tragic I know.

I...

1. Cried.

2. Cried some more.

3. Sat in bed contemplating what to do with myself.

4. Resumed catching up on PLL.

5. Frantically tried to find those god damn insurance papers.

6. Moaned to mum about how all my Instagram followers are going to hate me for not posting today.

7. Convinced myself that the world will end if I don't tweet.

8. Had a conversation face to face with an actual human.

9. Told the whole world that my phone is broken and I cannot be reached.

10. Ranted when people didn't take this as seriously as I did.

11. Replied to emails via a computer. Who does that anymore?

12. Cancelled all plans (writing and Netflix) so I could make an emergency trip to the phone shop.

13. Took in my surroundings whilst I walked to the phone shop, it's a rare occurrence to look at the sky.

14. Smiled at other human beings.

15. Judged others for being heads down in their phones.

16. Put on puppy dog eyes when I reached the phone shop.

17. Treated myself to something sassy for enduring a full day without my phone.

18. Resumed normal life when it was fixed.

As you can see... Going without a phone all day really isn't that bad. My followers managed without me and I got to have a Netflix binge, win-win all round. But still, I wouldn't advise it.

What would you do without your phone?

  8. This is a fantastic post, had me giggling away! Just because I know EXACTLY how you felt - my phone broke not so long ago and I was completely lost for the day or so before I had it fixed! I told myself I wanted more "no gadget" days .. It still hasn't happened!

  13. I´m one of these weird people who say I´d rather have my phone broken than my laptop (which i stand by), still I was very close to crying when I realized I had left my phone charger at my parents place at the start of the week. The main thing I was worried about was how I was going to wake up early to see the new NYX counters in Germany & buy everything. As you can see, I´ve got my priorities straight, haha.

    1. I don't think I could ever choose between my phone or my laptop, I hope I never have to haha!
The question is, did you get up and go to the NYX counters in the end? ;) x

  14. Haha, this is hilarious! I feel like these would be my stages, minus the Twitter part - oh technology, you are singularly the greatest and worst thing to have happened to us :')

  15. Such a great read, my babe, even though it involves an absolutely tragic event!! My phone is like one of my limbs and it's scary in a way how much we are attached to them (and social media). Oh well, that's life :)
I love, though, how a number of these included a contact with other humans :D
