The Minimalistic Dining Room Mood Board*

source: Fishpools

If you've read the title and are thinking, "Kat, why are you writing about dining rooms? Have you lost the plot?", the answer is no. I can assure you I haven't gone mad and this topic isn't totally random. Home decor and interior design are actually huge loves of mine. Sure, I still live at home with my mum but I love furniture and homeware shopping. I'm a real geek at heart.
I was contacted by Fishpools and asked if I wanted to create my own kitchen/dining room mood board. Being an avid mood board lover (I realise how lame I am), I accepted and got right to it, hunting out the cutest items I could find. As it's me, you can probably imagine this is going to feature a lot of copper but let's be real, who's shocked there?

Lamp // Cushion // Fruit Basket // Art Prints // Rug //
Clock // Cutlery Set // Dining Table Set

As you can see, I have quite the minimalistic style but one trend I've always loved when it comes to interior design is a mustard yellow and grey colour scheme. 10 years ago, they're two colours that nobody would have thought to put together but I just adore the simplicity of it.

A big rustic dining table is a must for me, which is why I picked out this lovely light oak one from Fishpools. Paired with the IKEA mustard rug sitting underneath, I think I've just set myself right up for dining room goals. Complete the room's look with copper detailing such as cutlery and table accessories similar to the ones I have chosen and you're onto a winner.

Of course, no room is complete without some fluffy cushions and art. IKEA offer a wide range of art prints to suit everyone's style, plus they're super affordable in comparison to places like Not On The High Street. Perfect for students and first time buyers.

I hope you liked my take on an interior mood board, even if dining rooms aren't your thing!

  1. I love minimalism, but I also love the way my house is turning out. White with gold, rose gold and silver accents throughout the house. :D

  4. I´m all about interior design as well. I never used to be into it but since I moved out & looked at a lot of different flats and rooms, I can´t wait to finally move into my own flat (as in not shared with any flatmates). There will be a big trip to Ikea!!
I love all the copper details you picked out. I love copper and rose gold either way but I think they´d look really great in this combination.

    1. Big IKEA trips when it's time to redecorate are the best! I love copper detailing against neutral backgrounds, I think it looks so delicate and pretty. x

  5. Anything IKEA related and I am on board :)
Loved this post so much because I am obsessed with everything homeware and home goods <3 As we are renting at the moment and kind of not sure where we are going to settle, it's hard to make decisions about what we want in this room or that room. Hopefully we will either find a home here or move back to our wee house we both miss a lot!! I can't wait to start decorating everything according to my own taste, and not what the landlord dictates lol :D
