Brand Testing: Nip & Fab

One thing I absolutely love about my little side hobby/job as a blogger, is being asked to try out new lines that brands I've heard so much about are releasing. Like, that's pretty high up on the cool scale right?

When the email landed in my inbox asking if I wanted to give Nip & Fab's new make up range a whirl, obviously my answer would be yes. I'd already seen so much excitement about them all over Instagram so it was a done deal. Thanks Nip & Fab!

Amongst my package of goodies were two liquid lippies, two colour correcting concealers, their highlighting and contour palettes and foundation, along with lightening and darkening mixers! I was overwhelmed by the amount I was given to try out but also very grateful as I was able to get a full feel for the range which I can now share with you guys. Winner, winner.

Let's start things off with the things I wasn't keen on, get the negativity out of the way and all that. I hate to point out bad things (I promise they're not that bad), but I like to be honest and give everyone a fair chance y'know.

So... The liquid lipsticks. Don't get me wrong, they're lovely products with the cutest shade names but I wasn't overly won over by the formula. They reminded me a little of the Colourpop Ultra Satin liquid lipsticks, which for anyone who doesn't know are my favourite ever, only the Nip & Fab ones didn't dry down to a matte finish as it claims to. In the end, my lips were left feeling rather sticky but saying that, they're long lasting and comfortable to wear! Two factors that are incredibly important for Mrs dry lips over here.

Top - Cinnamon, Bottom - Spice

The two shades I received, Spice and Cinnamon, are absolutely lovely and super wearable nudes. Cinnamon is definitely more of your orange toned nude lip, similar to Exposed by Kylie, whereas Spice is your typical nude with brown undertones, I'm talking the throwback '90s lip.

The lipsticks retail at £7.95 each which is mid range I'd say when it comes to the price of drugstore matte lips, but they're definitely worth a try! I hope they add some brighter shades to the collection in the future as I'd love to give them a go.

Next up, I'll tell you all about the Nip & Fab foundation! Now, as someone with very fussy skin, I'm always rather hesitant when it comes to new foundations but this one is fabbity fab. Although I'm yet to master the art of getting my perfect shade with the lightening drops, it's nothing a little bronzer here and there can't fix.

The coverage is medium to buildable with a matte finish, but not too matte, which I looove. You know how some foundations are just so thick and matte, you feel like you've painted your face? This one is nothing like that, praise the lorrrrd!

The only critique I have about the foundation (which is honestly just me being picky), is the packaging. As it comes in a plastic bottle, the kind you used to use for glue in primary school, I feel like it can get pretty messy real quick, but that could just be me!

One product I've never really bothered with in my make up routine is colour correcting concealers, but oh my, these have changed my mind forever! I received the shades Terracotta and Banana and they are faaabulous. A creamy consistency and easy to blend, what's not to love?

The coverage is enough to even out my complexion without making me look like a ghost and works amazingly under any foundation. Colour correcting is now a step I use in my routine on a daily basis all thanks to these two products!

P.S. Please excuse the horrendously chipped nail, I don't even have words for it.

Onto my ultimate faves of the range, the highlight and contour palettes. I won't lie to you, I'm normally someone who doesn't see the point in having an entire palette with a range of contour and highlighting shades, because you're usually only gonna use one shade - Y'feel me? Well, I proved myself wrong with these bad boys!

The highlighters are subtle but, like with the other items, they're definitely buildable! They apply perfectly with my Morphe M510 brush to the tops of my cheeks and blend out like a dream. Although they're pigmented, you're able to mix and match the shades to create practically whatever shade you prefer - And that's exactly what I've been doing!

As I tend to use cool toned powders for contouring, otherwise I look like I have an orange stripe on my face, the shade I reached for the most in this palette is 'Latte' (bottom left shade), but the two darkest shades blended together add a gorgeous bronzed tone to my skin. I actually can't live without this palette now, which is perfect as it's so compact, it can come everywhere with me, thankQ.

I gotta say, I'm so pleased I had the chance to try out the Nip & Fab make up line and I absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for them. On par with the likes of NYX and Lottie London in terms of their prices, they had a lot to live up to but the colour correctors and highlighting & contour palettes certainly exceeded my expectations anyway!

*Nip & Fab can be found in Superdrug, both online and in-store now!

  12. Love your photos! It's a shame the glosses didn't dry matte, but sometimes I like that as it doesn't feel too drying that way. At least they lasted a while I guess? The concealers sound really good. Didn't know it was available in Superdrug maybe I'll have to give them a go.
